When choosing garden furniture covers, you want to get it right the first time. The right cover can make all the difference to the lifespan of your garden furniture and the enjoyment you can derive from your furniture by quickly and easily getting the covers on and off. Understanding the basics helps match your needs to choosing the best fabric for garden furniture covers.
Which is the best fabric for garden furniture covers?
Theoretically, any material can be used to cover garden furniture, but in reality, only a few are able to withstand exposure to outdoor extremes, ranging from rapid changes in temperature and humidity, rain, the sun’s intense UV rays, wind, snow, dust, dirt and various creatures climbing on them.
The four fabrics that are used most often are polyester, acrylic, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) and polypropylene, or combinations of these four. With new technology, these fabrics have been vastly improved since they were first invented and different manufacturing processes are used for each and also within each category to produce higher quality.
It is well to remember that in each category there are top-quality materials manufactured to the highest standards from the best raw materials, as well as cheaply produced fabrics made from second-grade materials. Make sure you choose the best quality.
